Paddling in and around Mackey's Kendrick Creek

  Mackey’s/Kendrick Creek - In an area steeped in civil war history, the Mackey’s/Kendrick Creek paddling trail is also a wonderful excursion for nature lovers. The high banks are lined with many species of hardwood trees not usually found in this coastal area, and provide a wonderful habitat for eagles, osprey and aquatic wildlife. Just in from the Albemarle Sound, several old fish houses are still visible, and Mackey’s Landing is an attractive put-in spot with a shop and popular restaurant.
